I am OK

Wow... funny to have this post follow the one below. Tonight I was sleeping beacuse I was scheduled to go to Amman tomorrow for work meetings. At 10:15 a friend called me and actually, I was annoyed he woke me up, but he told me that there were three major bombings in Amman at the Regency Hotel, the Hyatt, and the Days Inn. I called and talked to mom, threw on clothes, and went down to my landlords to watch the news. My heart just broke! Honestly, I know more people in Amman than I did in NYC on September 11th (of course, not the same scale, but my heart still breaks).
So, now I am up for the night (and, of couse, my trip to Amman tomorrow is cancelled). Actually, there is a holiday... a day of mourning here...with schools and offices closed down. It feels so violating right now. We are in the midst of a very tumultuous location between palesitine, israel, iraq, syria, and saudi arabia... but Jordan has always been the calm in the storm... the safe haven!
So, now is a waiting game. We are not sure what happens. A PC post does not stay at site if the safety of volunteers is jeopardized... however, if a post (and by that i mean country) has to be evacuated twice that pretty much closes the door to reopening service in that country again. Since Jordan was already evacuated, everyone wants to stay if we are able.... but only time will tell.
Pray for those in the hotels. Right now the count is 53 dead and over 200 injured. The sad part of watching the footage was that one hotel was having a huge wedding and the room just was destroyed. Weddings are such a big deal in jordan.... even more so than america, and I'm sure this was some girls dream day ruined tragically!
Anyway, I will keep you all posted. I wont know much more till morning and probably not any real decision until later this week but pray that we can stay and finish our work!
